Ephesians 6:1-3
[1] Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. [2] “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: [3] If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.”
Exodus 21:15 &17
[15] “Anyone who strikes father or mother must be put to death.
[17] “Anyone who dishonors father or mother must be put to death.
There are more than 600 God's commandments but God has selected the most 10 important commandments.
The 2 greatest commandments
Hear, O Isreal, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. You shall love your neighbour as yourself.

The right honour?
> Are we honouring our parents the way which God approves ?
Beware - Mark 7:6-13
[6] Jesus replied, “You hypocrites!
Isaiah was right when he
prophesied about you, for he wrote,
‘These people honor me with their
lips, but their hearts are far from
me. [7] Their worship is a farce,
for they teach man-made ideas as
commands from God.’ [8] For you
ignore God’s law and substitute
your own tradition.” [9] Then he
said, “You skillfully sidestep God’s
law in order to hold on to your own
tradition. [10] For instance, Moses
gave you this law from God: ‘Honor
your father and mother,’ and
‘Anyone who speaks
disrespectfully of father or
mother must be put to death.’ [11]
But you say it is all right for
people to say to their parents,
‘Sorry, I can’t help you. For I have
vowed to give to God what I would
have given to you.’ [12] In this way,
you let them disregard their needy
parents. [13] And so you cancel
the word of God in order to hand
down your own tradition. And this
is only one example among many
others.”
The right honour?

Colossians 3:20
[20] Children, always obey your
parents, for this pleases the
Lord.
Romans 1:28-32
[28] Since they thought it foolish
to acknowledge God, he
abandoned them to their foolish
thinking and let them do things
that should never be done. [29]
Their lives became full of every
kind of wickedness, sin, greed,
hate, envy, murder, quarreling,
deception, malicious behavior,
and gossip. [30] They are
backstabbers, haters of God,
insolent, proud, and boastful.
They invent new ways of sinning,
and they disobey their parents.
[31] They refuse to understand,
break their promises, are
heartless, and have no mercy.
[32] They know God’s justice
requires that those who do these
things deserve to die, yet they do
them anyway. Worse yet, they
encourage others to do them,
too.

[ 3 ] Repay
[ 4 ] But if she has children
or grandchildren, their first
responsibility is to show
godliness at home and
repay their parents by
taking care of them. This
is something that pleases
God.
Exodus 20:12
[12] “Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
